Show Notes

This week on Another Money Show, J.R. and Anthony take a wide-angle look at global and political events – and why they matter to your money.

The conversation touches on international tensions, including developments involving Venezuela, unrest in the Middle East, and broader global affairs. J.R. and Anthony discuss how wars, government intervention, and geopolitical uncertainty can ripple through markets, increase government spending, and add pressure to an already growing national debt.

They also talk about the continued pace of government spending, the long-term implications of debt, and why these issues make personal financial planning more important than ever. As the new year begins, they encourage listeners to take advantage of the fresh start to review, adjust, or optimize their financial plans.

As always, the focus is on helping listeners stay informed, prepared – not scared – and confident that their financial strategy is built to withstand uncertainty, regardless of headlines or political noise.

About Another Money Show:
We’re your hosts, J.R. and Anthony. We want our listeners to be informed of not only the standard rules for investing but how to invest based on the uncertain world around us. We want our listeners to be prepared – not scared. Being aware of potential pitfalls allow our listeners to be proactive in their finances, not reactive!

Meet J.R.: J.R. Rotchford joined his family’s business, Rotchford & Associates, in 1998 after serving in the U.S. Air Force, graduating from ASU and working for a newspaper and then an elevator company for a short period of time. He has experienced the peaks and valleys of the financial services industry for going on a quarter of a century now.

Meet Anthony: In 2018, Anthony Carrao became the 4th generation of the family business after leaving behind a career as an Industrial Engineer. Anthony now uses his knowledge base in strategic planning and cost savings initiatives for individuals and families to better their financial situations, instead of saving millions for large corporations.

[00:00:18] Speaker C: This is another money show. Get set for another hour of the latest financial information and economic news affecting your bottom line. J.R. and Anthony are committed to helping more Americans like you optimize their inc. Reduce their tax risk and reach financial freedom. So let's start the show. Here are your hosts, Anthony Correjo and J.R. rochford. [00:00:42] Speaker D: Here we are, Anthony Correjo and JR Rochford, hosts of another money show. Taking a break from our day to day as financial advisors with Rochford and Associates, a fully independent fourth generation family office right here in Sun City to make bring you new stories that you may not hear on those other financial shows where the last thing you need is another money show. But we appreciate you being here. [00:01:06] Speaker A: Is that it? Yeah. So Happy New Year everybody. This is officially, this is officially our first new show of the year. During the two holiday weeks our schedule was thrown off so we recorded on Tuesdays. And doing a show that's not an infomercial, doing a show on current events and how they are likely to affect your future, your finances, your kids, your grandkids, etc. It's, it's harder to do. So this show, we do have some current events to get to, but yeah, I feel like we're back on track. A couple quick shout outs. We've, we've mentioned a couple listeners that have come in a few times now. The woman listens at 5 in the morning. We saw her, we saw her and she reiterated that she hears most of the show at 5, but she falls asleep and then she has to listen at noon to finish it. So I don't know if I take that as a compliment or not. So much like we think this show is exciting. I listen to other financial shows and I can see where you would fall asleep, but how do you fall asleep to this one? So anyway, I'm just actually, I'm so glad they, they've become clients and that's super cool. We've got people that listen to the show that we've given second opinions to and people that have actually trusted us. So thank you so much. Another loyal listener. We have a woman that's, that's listened for a long time. I, I think since we're pretty new and she listens every week so she'll know who I was talking about. Thank you for coming in again last week. Thank you for trusting us. She's. She's moving to us, and we're pretty glad about that. I was on Joe's show last week on December 30th. On Tuesday, I was on the Patriot Radio NewsHour. So if you ever want me to send you a link to those shows, I can do it text, email, messenger, whatever. So it was kind of. I was a little more calm than the appearance before, but I can send it to you if you want to hear it. One last thing. Next week, we're going to have our West Valley men's networking meeting. That's always the second Tuesday of the month. So if you want to meet us, but you want to do it more casually and you're a man, you are more than welcome. It's kind of sexist, isn't it? If you're a woman, just show up and we'll say we didn't know you were coming. But yeah, reach out to us. Yeah, Sam, exactly. Women are allowed but not invited. We've had like six womanly breaches over the four years we've been doing it. So, yeah, it's, it's pretty casual, but we have a great time. There's no 30 second commercials, there's no speakers, there's no dues, there's no nothing. It's just people hanging out, get to know each other, help each other in business if you can. If not, just become friends. So. And Sam, good point. Sam said anyone that buys drinks can stay. So we, we especially want to meet you if you're buying. So let's get into the show. As you know, our mission is to make sure you are proactive and not reactive. We want you prepared and not scared. We, during the day, every day, Anthony and I do normal financial planning. But on this show, we try to give you reasons to make sure you're awake, aware, nimble. You watch what's going on right now in our world. So much for the new year, bringing calmness and peace. Everything is kind of off. Anthony, do I get into, do I start here? Geopolitics? I really, you know, if you're a sales professional, let's say you're a financial advisor. Let's just say that. And you help somebody with your finances and you make 10 different possible financial plans. And they're all unique in their own way. They're all perfect, they're all really good. It's the likelihood of somebody picking one is not so great. It's too much. It's information overload. You know, the biggest reason somebody won't pick one isn't because they're not all great. It's. It's because they're afraid they'll pick the wrong one. They're afraid to make a mistake. If you give me way too many things to concentrate on, I'm likely not to be able to concentrate on any of them fully. And that's what's going on in this world. I. You know, one of the things I heard, I don't know, Sunday or Monday, the flu. I'm going to just start with our health. I mean, we can talk about the weather, whatever you want. Sports. I mean, sports, the big football. This is the weekend of the playoff game. So that's going on that should distract us, like, you know, bread and circuses. Anyway, I heard it called the super flu. So, Anthony, Sam, have you heard of this? The super flu? It's the flu. You know, five years ago it was, Covid, you're sick, get yourself in bed. But when I heard the word the super flu, it was funny because, Anthony, you think I'm always, you know, doom and gloom and half empty. The way the report that I heard came out, it really sounded like we're all going to die. It talked about how fast it's spreading. It talked about, you don't want to wind up in the hospital because then you could get other things, get mrsa. This. This thing was like me on steroids. Anyway, I thought about it, and I'm not a. I want to preface this just so you don't. You know, I'm not sure people should be taking medical advice from me because I'm not a doctor. But flu, I will tell you, I do know it stands for influenza. So I just want to give you some background on my credibility on this matter. I think you should try to stay away from the hospital. I think you should make chicken noodle soup. I think you should drink ginger ale. I think you should hydrate yourself. I think you should get a lot of rest. And I think you should listen to old episodes of another money show on whatever your favorite podcast is. Those things will make you feel better and then move on. I just. I thought I'd touch on that because I guess the flu is. Is coming. And, Anthony, you and I, this afternoon. By the way, today is the 8th of January, 2026. So another couple of weeks and you'll be done with your gym membership. You'll start writing six on the end of your check. Anyway, so later on we're going to be with a large gathering of people, so hopefully nobody gives us the super flu. If it's only Anthony next week you'll know I was the lucky recipient of the superflu. I think it's best if I start with geopolitics and work our way down to this country. So let's talk for a second. What's on the table. Apparently last weekend, since we saw you last, we've been warning you for months that Venezuela, I've been telling you there are boots on the ground, there is change coming. Apparently we went in and did a snatch and grab. Apparently we grabbed Nicholas Maduro out of his military installation slumber. We took he and his wife here to New York. So I have a question. We a lot of people, you know, you know, the country's kind of polarized and divided politically. A lot of people think that one side or the other of the political aisle, people should go to jail. There should be a perp walk. So we get, let me get this straight. We can go to another country and grab one of their politicians and put them in jail, but we don't put anybody in this country in jail. And whatever side of the aisle you're on, you want the other side, somebody to go to jail. So I don't know, it's just kind of funny to me. And let's go from Venezuela, you know, I mean, I don't need to talk much about it. Yes, we talked to you about drug boats. Yes, drugs are from. We also thought it was the oil. I had mentioned a few weeks ago that I don't think it's so much that we want the oil to refine the heavy crude. We don't want it going to China. Well, further, I almost said that like our president, China. So to further that, apparently yesterday on the 7th of January, I guess I am going to stay in Venezuela for a few minutes. I guess yesterday we took over another couple of tankers. Well, something interesting over the last seven to ten days, apparently the tankers, so they don't get nabbed, they're raising a different country's flag. One of the two we grabbed yesterday is flying the Russian flag. So I guess, Anthony, when you said we might all die, we might get, you know, obliterated, we, it is actually very fragile geopolitically. We actually could be attacked by Russia at this point. They are saying yesterday, one day ago, as we record that we seized their property, the same ship seemed to have a different flag on it prior to the Russian. [00:09:30] Speaker D: Russia can take a Bordering country. Why are we still afraid of Russia? [00:09:34] Speaker A: I don't know. I mean, it's kind of like the domino theory. If one domino falls, a few more are going to fall. Russia is a big nuclear power. We're not afraid of them. Like, you know, hand to hand comment. But, but we, I mean, they could launch an icbm. You know, they can see Alaska from their porch. So they could launch a little rocket, you know, a little rocket speed, a little rocket, A little rocket man. I had to check in with Nick in Japan over in Okinawa air base because North Korea, I think this was on Sunday, shot an ICBM over that away. So that's on the table still. So. [00:10:12] Speaker D: But anyway, care about North Korea either. [00:10:15] Speaker A: Well, and Nick's not worried either. I'm like, you know, everything okay? There was a big earthquake, whatever, 6.4, whatever earthquake. It's just the whole world is, is on fire. And yet, yet I think the Chicago Bears are playing some team. I will not mention this Sunday. So good luck to them. So Venezuela, the Maduro thing. Yes. That's exciting. He pleaded not guilty, apparently. So we have his wife too. We snapped his wife too. So. But yeah, so this, this could grow legs. Apparently. We are going to oversee Venezuela for a while, you know, like we don't have enough stuff to oversee in this country. We're going to take care of their, their country for a while. We'll see how that goes. Colombia, A reporter on Air Force One asked Donald Trump about Colombia. He's basically, are you going to go into Columbia next? He said, well, that's a good idea. And I'm pretty much like directly quoting. He said something to the effect of, oh, that's a good idea. So Colombia amassed this week already, the first week of January 2026, amassed over 30,000 troops on the Venezuelan border, partially to keep Venezuelans out because they think they'll run over to Colombia and maybe they're gearing up for an attack also. So Colombia, you're next. Greenland, we can't forget about Greenland. Apparently that's been talked about for a year now. Seems like it might be a more likely scenario that we become the owners and masters of Greenland. I don't know. I don't know. Precious metals, rare earth metals. I don't know if they have oil, but Greenland, you're coming. Didn't we talk about Canada, too? Haven't heard that one in a while. I think we realize how crappy of a country Canada is and we changed our mind. We want Greenland, but not you. Canada, Iran. Let's Talk about Iran for a second. A big flag just got changed. Iran is falling. Do you guys watch this? Sam, Anthony, do you guys, do you guys watch what's going on in the world or is it pretty much you just let me do the global correspondence for another money show. Sam's nodding the affirmative. Oh, they both now are nodding the right way. I kind of figured. But just poke around a little bit if you're resting and look at Iran. There's huge hostile. Is it hostile or hostile takeovers in Iran. So, you know, we were getting ready a couple weeks ago to bomb them again. You know, joint strike with Israel and the United States. Apparently we might not need to yet because they're on fire on their own. But we're still talking about bombing Iran. So that's on the table. China, I'll get to the big dog. China, couple things. One, I've been telling you for the three and a half years, almost four years now in the show they are going to re. Annex. Re. Take. They're going to take Taiwan. They're going to. I'm just this, you know, do I work for the Department of Defense? Wait, the department where. I do not. But I'm pretty sure China, it wants Taiwan. Maybe part of it's because they know we want it. So maybe, maybe they're going to take it just to spite us. But that is on the table. China this morning on the 8th of January, they just said they were going to stop exporting all rare earth minerals, metals, whatever it is, to Japan. Japan is in deep trouble by the way, with a lot of fronts. So. But Japan's stock market, that's doing fine. Their version of the Dow is very parallel lockstep with the dow. It's like 50 something thousand now. And Dow good on you. I saw the Teflon Dow was up today. So I know that thing's gonna hit 50,000 and then maybe that's a psychological cap, then maybe we can expect the correction from there. But Anthony, I've resigned myself to thinking it doesn't matter. The Dow Jones industrial companies is. It's 30 companies, very easy to manipulate. So the Dow is just, it's worthless. It's, it's 100% house of cards, 100% manipulated the, the economy. Anthony, you said years ago the stock market is not the economy and the economy is not the stock market. That's really been, it's never been this true. It's, it's insane. What else, what else do I have for geopolitics? Russia's gonna nuke Us. What else do I allegedly. What else do I have? I. I guess let's, let, let's get to this country. I mean, that's what I really want to get to today. Do you both hear anything about what's going on in this country? New York, Boston, Louisiana, Downtown Phoenix. [00:14:34] Speaker D: I don't know if these are actual questions or rhetorical because you asked me. We're at minute 14, and you asked me a question at minute four, and then at minute five and then never stopped talking. That's why I always zone out. [00:14:46] Speaker A: Okay, so New Year, not new Me. Is that where we are? [00:14:49] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, that's. [00:14:50] Speaker A: You're right. It's definitely. And because a lot of times when I do ask you and then I pause either for effect or an answer, you're like from Saturday Night Live. You're like the skit from the BJ's. Bee gees. Not the BJ's. That's a totally different show. The Bee Gees. Do you have anything to say, Anthony? No. No, I don't. No. Okay, let's make it not rhetorical. Are you watching what's going on just in the last 24 hours? [00:15:14] Speaker D: No, I don't. [00:15:17] Speaker A: No. [00:15:18] Speaker D: For me. Tell me, Tell me everything I need to be worried about. [00:15:21] Speaker A: Okay. You do realize that there's been a little controversy over the past 12 months or so with the current administration deciding that they. I don't know what it was, 20 million or whatever people that came in across the border the four previous years should go home. You know about that, right? Like, like the current administration wants to get rid of at least the murderers and the drug dealers. Supposedly. [00:15:42] Speaker D: Yeah. And that's a big supposedly. [00:15:44] Speaker A: But I know, Anthony, I know they just want to get the tortilla makers and the poor little homemakers that want to make a better life for their family. I know, I know. They, they, they don't. Yeah, I know. So, but let's just say. And yes. Are some of those going to be caught up in the net, the sweeping net of getting rid of drug dealers? 100%. But you know what? Are you okay with a nation of not laws, Anthony? Do you. Is. Is being illegal as long as all you do is make tortillas? Okay. And it's only. You should only be deported or incarcerated if you commit a serious crime like murder or rape or whatever. I mean, I'm just, I know that's nitpicky and fine lining it when you have this much immigration for four years, but are you okay with the people that are here just to Make a better life. [00:16:24] Speaker D: Not like it was just four years. This has been going on for. [00:16:28] Speaker A: You're right. You're right. [00:16:29] Speaker D: Decades. But also, it's a country of immigrants, like your family's immigrants. My family's immigrants. Should they make it easier? Absolutely, they should. Should they be. [00:16:39] Speaker A: Did they come in legally or illegally? Some of them changed their name, had pass books. Well, I mean, if you look at history, you'll have some idea. They didn't come in the way they came in the last four years. They weren't busting. There wasn't the BP1 app. There wasn't maps telling where to avoid certain things. There wasn't all the free handling. [00:16:55] Speaker D: I assure we had an entire island for people to just show up to, though. Yeah. [00:16:59] Speaker A: And processed. And get processed. Yes. I remember the history book showing that. I remember that, and I remember the assimilation concept. I remember the learn the language and make a better life for your future. I remember all the concepts and they seem different. They didn't come here and start waving their flags from Ireland and Italy. They didn't come here and make the neighborhoods that they take over. You know, let's talk about Somali, Little Italy. [00:17:21] Speaker D: What about all of. What about Chinatown? What are you talking about? [00:17:25] Speaker A: Those are tourist attractions. [00:17:26] Speaker D: Of course they did. They doing that for a hundred years. [00:17:29] Speaker A: Those morphed into tourist attractions and places where people. It's a destination. They, they made those cities to where they were little cities. I mean, that, that, that morphed into something kind of cool for us. This and part of my thing, if you're here illegally, you need to be processed. Still, Even if there's 20 million of you, part of my thing is until we can do that, I'm fine with deporting people. I'm one of those old Archie Bunker. Yes, I voted for this. I want laws to be in place. If you listened to our own show last week or over the last six months, when we talk about fraud, waste, and abuse, the, you know, all sudden, the Somalis are out of the spotlight. As of the last 24 hours, you, you, you come here and all you do is soak up all the benefits from a country that's 38 trillion in debt. And then the fraud is rampant. You think that's okay? I, I mean, I just, I, I see it like, were we ever Mayberry or the Brady Bunch? No, we were not. But we've never been this messed up and going so fast in the wrong direction. And you work in Sun City, you live in Glendale. I'd say a relatively safe neighborhood. Although there was a drive by shooting at your house, what, six, eight months ago. But I mean, you live in a relatively safe area. You're not exposed to seeing the problems of the big cities of the last 24 hours or you would be more aware. I'm only exposed to it because I look for it. But I don't know, I just, I look at it like, you know, do I want the tortilla maker to be deported? Yes, I do. But last year, like, let's try to get you to apply for citizen. And you're right, the process needs to be made easier. But this was a strategic, purposeful, overwhelming of the system. That's how I see it. The last four years, this was 100% calculated. Strategic, whatever word you want to use to cripple our country to bring in voters. The replacement theory. I mean, there's all kinds of things that seem to make sense. None of them are just that these poor people left their war torn regions. They weren't safe where they were really. 20 million of you came over in four years. I don't remember the number. I'm just using 20 million because it seems like that's what I heard. I don't know. And I know part of your job is to see things differently than me, and I love that part of your age, your age range sees things differently than me. I'm fine with that. You're gonna live here 30 or 40 more years than I am. So everything that I talk about right now that I think would better our future situation, we'll see. I'll be gone when. If you get Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, if you have safety in your country, if everything plays out just fine for you, I'll be happy. I still care about you. I mean, you annoy me once in a while. I make no secret about that. And there's a slight possibility that I annoy you on occasion. But I actually care for your future and I don't think it's going the right way. So why don't we talk for a second? Oh, I did. I did hear yesterday in your old stomping ground. I know you lived in the area of Salt Lake City, Utah for a while due to your employment situation. Apparently there was like eight people shot at an LDS church yesterday. Two of them have died. So I don't know what that's about. I didn't have time to dig into it yet, but I think anywhere you can possibly be, you're not necessarily safe right now. So if you're listening to us, my My advice to you, and this is not strictly financial advice, it's more life advice. If you're a believer in the Second Amendment, make sure you do some training and make sure you're armed wherever you go. Because, oh, my gosh, I mean, you. You could be assaulted, accosted, you could be attacked anywhere. Church, library, school, it doesn't matter. So start being proactive, not reactive about protecting yourself and your family, too. But lds, church, I find that absolutely disgusting. Similar to how disgusting that is. You know, the cardinal season ended right last weekend. We ended the 3 and 14 season. So I don't have to drink as much on the weekends anymore coming up. So that'd be kind of nice. Sorry, that was just me doing a little silliness. Warren Buffett stepped down on the 31st of December. See how I'm trying to take us down? I'm trying to take the temperature down, Anthony, from you and I fighting about the border to Warren Buffett. But let's. Let's bring it. Yeah, it was nice to segue. Is that what you're calling radio? Let's go back for a second to what's going on. So. And I know you're looking it up right now because your eyes are really darting all over the place. So Minnesota, you know, over the last year, there's. There's been certain people have issues with National Guard being brought to cities. There's people mostly, mostly on the. The left side of the aisle that do not care for ice, the immigration people, and they've made that known. Well, yesterday, the. The story, as I understand it, is there was a ICE raid. So apparently people that don't like ICE have apps on their phones and they reach each other and they say where to meet when there's a problem. Apparently that happened yesterday, and there was a gathering, one woman in a car. The car, you know, there are a lot of ice and snow, and an ICE vehicle, a truck pulled up. So this woman, instead of following commands and orders to get out of her car, she hit an ICE officer. The ICE officer shot her. Well, what came out yesterday, the first video that came out showed it from the back of the car. So you couldn't see the ICE officer that she hit. All you saw was a couple ICE officers approaching the vehicle, you know, yelling at her to come out. And then you see her put the car. It's. The car's in reverse. She puts it in drive and she goes. Presumably to get out of that situation. If somebody is fleeing a situation, you are not allowed to shoot them. But when the videos started coming out from other cameras that showed the front of the vehicle, there was an ice agent in the front of her car, the front driver's side part of the car. She hit the ice officer, and then he fired upon her. She passed away. Well, last night, the riots started, and I think this is more, you know, should that have happened? No. Am I happy somebody lost their life? No, I think she was an agitator. I can't wait to hear if she was from Minnesota or from another state. You know, obviously, everybody comes out right away and says she's a mother. One thing. [00:24:13] Speaker D: Kyle Rittenhouse from another state? [00:24:15] Speaker A: I don't know. Possibly. So you think I think that's okay. I mean, don't, you know, don't hit me with a skateboard. Don't do. I mean, come on. And, you know, should I pick and choose? You know, Kyle Rittenhouse. Maybe we should have talked about that when that was fresh. I'm sure we probably did. You know, I, I, I don't want to go back in time to that one. Unless you want to talk about, like, you know, the summer 2020. Let's talk about George Floyd for a second. It wasn't the city of Minneapolis under just set on fire. Wasn't that the same city? You know, I mean, so I, I don't know. I'm not sure if you're parallels to say that I pick and choose, and I only want one side of the aisle to prevail. I, I guess that was, you know what that means. Anyway, so I, I, I, I don't know. I mean, one thing said she's a mother of one. Another thing said she was a mother of three. So I, I don't know. You know, her mom said our sweet see, is. Of course she's sweet. That's your daughter. Then I heard she's a poet. What does it have to do with any of this? I also, my understanding is that she came there to cause havoc, and she did. And what's the old expression? I don't know if the kids are still saying it. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. She won the ultimate prize. You know, if a cop tells me to get out of the car, guess what I'm gonna do? The cop might be dirty. I might have made a mistake. But I'm just, I don't want to get shot. And I'm not sure in this climate nowadays how you don't think you're taking that chance. If you hit an ice officer, they're armed, you know, so I don't know, but it seems to me like that's the littlest part of the story. And it is sad. I mean, don't get me wrong, you know, I did see the pictures of the blood on the airbag and I've looked at this. I dug into it so much because I knew, Anthony, you're going to be like, yeah, you know, it's the cops fault, not hers. I know. [00:25:51] Speaker D: I didn't say that. [00:25:52] Speaker A: Oh, I know. But I mean, well, so you're gonna take. [00:25:56] Speaker D: I saw the video. The cop was in front and she hit him. [00:26:00] Speaker A: It shows him. [00:26:01] Speaker D: Probably not, but yeah, the car gun guy was in front of the car. You know, there was definitely contact. I get that. But she shouldn't have been in that situation. [00:26:11] Speaker A: Who should have been? Wait, wait, who should have been? The ICE officer or her? [00:26:15] Speaker D: A little bit of both, but mostly her. [00:26:18] Speaker A: Okay, thank you. I mean, at least we're saying that. But let's. And I know we're getting near a break time. I want to finish this because that, that's the, I think that's the smallest part of the story, unfortunately. The loss of life, I think is, is the lesser of the story that's, you know, developing here. So let's do this. Let's take us into break. When we come back, let's get a little bit further into how this is morphing. I always use the term growing legs. So with that, thank you so much for being with us in another new year. I mean, if we get to March, we'll be on here for four years. So we greatly appreciate your support as always. We want to meet you, we want to help you one person, one couple, one family at a time. We want to be a second opinion on your finances. We want to talk to you. So reach out to us. We're at 623-523-0444. Again, that's 623-523-0444. Or if you're shy, you can email us@team anothermoneyshow.com and one last thing, the YouTube channel is still chugging along. I have to get some new funnies over to Shelby to put up. But the YouTube channel, we're doing great. We got, I don't know, 420,000 views on our shorts and videos. And so check out our YouTube channel that is also another money show. Thank you for being here. We will be right back. [00:27:45] Speaker C: All of JR and Anthony's listeners receive a free consultation just for listening to the show. Visit anothermoneyshow.com. So let's break down the big stuff without the boring. It's money time. This is another Money show. [00:28:08] Speaker A: Welcome back to another Money Show. Thank you so much for being with us. I know you know this, but we greatly appreciate you being here. Please tell people about us. We always say we're little tiny fish in a big pond and we, quite frankly, we need your help. We need other people to know about this. We have to renew or stop the show in March. We have a decision to make. Every six months we get to a crossroads. I believe that we are probably going to keep going because I think 2026 and no, I don't have a working crystal ball. I do have one. I have a Magic 8 ball too. I keep next to each other because they pretty much give the same results on things. But anyway, so I think my gut feeling is 2026 is the year we've been waiting for. You know, we started this show in 2022 and I think this is going to be our year. It's going to help our financial practice too because when the markets start changing, and I believe that'll be this year, obviously. My gut feeling, I think people are going to need our help. They know we've been proactive, not reactive. They know we've been watching it. They know we've been dollar cost averaging. People out of things to gain, to get gains to lock in their profits. You know, I make fun of the advisors all the time that say buy the dips. We help people sell the peaks. We help you make that imaginary gain real. So I think this will be our year to shine. So I have a feeling we'll probably try to make it through 2026 and then about, you know, don't forget we're not radio people. We're not a marketing machine. We've seen the advisors that have grown to these massive machines. One's got an office in Scottsdale and in Peoria and in Gilbert. I know the guy. My dad and I had lunch with him 20 years ago at a place called Don Jose's. He and his partner at the time, they had big dreams and goals and aspirations. We don't, we just want to help people. We don't have any pressure quotas, minimums. We don't buy demographics lists. We're a family practice, fourth generation family practice. We are 100% referral. We're getting new people coming in from the show. That's the only marketing we really do. We do a little bit of networking. But this show we're starting to get more and more Clients from the show. And, you know, we're not doing it for that. We're not an infomercial. We're a show to wake people up, sound alarms to make sure you don't have surprises. So with that said, why don't we get back into Minnesota just for a minute, because of their lovely weather. So my problem isn't the woman, whether she should have been there or not is out for debate. My problem is how the reaction went down. And I. And again, you guys said you didn't. You don't know much about this, but hearing the mayor. What's his name, Fry. What's the guy's name? I wrote it down because I, I just. He discussed me so bad. Jacob Fry, man, this guy, his language. And I mean, I know I said it was going to be my New Year's resolution to cuss more, oversleep more, overeat more, but I was just kidding. I'm gonna cuss about the same amount I always do. This guy, if you're a public official and you. You're saying something is BS and he set it out in front of the cameras, and you say to ice, get that, you know, what, out the. The big word. I. I don't know. I mean, it was just bad. And, and part of my whole thing, you know, politicians used to be somewhat tempered. They used to be like, you know, we can't comment on it yet. It's an unfolding, ongoing investigation. Now it's like Waltz comes out and says, like, we're at war. This is the first time a state has been at war with the federal government. He said that, Anthony, yesterday. It's like, first, first of all, this is a nice opportunity to put the Somali fraud behind us for a while. There's. There's that. You already decided you're not going to run for governor again, so why don't you go out as a shining example for the left side of the political aisle that you stood up to Trump, you stood up to ice, you stood up to the federal government. Good on you. I still think this. The polarization and the division in this country are staggering. And yesterday it just doubled down. It got twice as bad. Yesterday it started going that way with George Floyd. It started going that way with the Summer of Love in Portland, Oregon. Yesterday gave me an idea that that had never ended. There's still, under the surface, like I've been telling people, a lot of unrest. There's the. Half the country doesn't like the political party in power. Four years ago, half the country didn't like the political power. It's not, it's dangerous. And I don't think it's going to get better is my problem. I think it's going to get worse. I think yesterday made the chances of our pillar number 10, which is we actually get civil, we get civil war, we get unrest, which obviously will be accompanied with a stock market crash, a housing market crash. Everything else, you know, auxiliary to it is going to change. I think there could actually be fighting in the streets. That's what I think. Is it going to be contained to the usual suspects? Portland, Oregon, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Detroit, Michigan, Chicago, Illinois or is it going to spill over? I don't know. I just know that the passion is great, the tempers are short, people are stressed. The stock market, $50,000, woo. That's what's coming. And you know what, Main Street America is suffering. The economy is not the stock market and vice versa. And I can tell you right now, the credit card late payments, the student loan defaults, the auto loan late payments and defaults, the subprime auto loan. There's a lot of people struggling. You know who's not struggling? Tim Waltz, Janet Yellen. If we get time, I'll bring up my favorite cartoon, Janet Yellen. She's back under my radar as of this week. The rich are getting richer, the poor hover and the middle class are shrinking and it's on steroids. And now you have this built in excuse for everybody to hate each other. Black versus white, red versus blue, gay versus straight, haves versus have nots. And it's dangerous. And I know I probably overreacting, I'm sure. Let me read a little quote from Tim Waltz from yesterday. Tim Waltz urges Americans. This is yesterday, Anthony. Tim Waltz urges Americans to take to the streets. This is a governor of a state saying this. And I quote, if you're in Portland or you're in LA or you're in Chicago or you're wherever they're coming next, stand with us. Stand with us against this. This. He said that yesterday. Do you don't think that's inflammatory? I do. This is insanity. [00:34:54] Speaker D: I think that is first amendment right? [00:34:57] Speaker A: Oh, it's, it's, I don't know. Isn't that the fire in the movie theater? If you start saying take to the streets, if you start saying harass people and get in their face physically. What Was her name? 45. What was that woman's name? I dismissed it. Let's see here, let me see what the commentator that I read here. This is insanity. A sitting Governor openly urging people to take to the streets. If any Republican said this, the media would call it an insurrection within five seconds. A leader who encourages unrest instead of calming it down has no business staying in office. I'm going to kind of agree with that. I love the First Amendment, Anthony, but it's. It could get us in some trouble. How is yesterday any different than January 6th? I'll tie into the anniversary we just had a couple days ago. And I know it was. Oh, I know it was so natural. You know, Trump did tell people to be stay calm. This guy's saying, do the opposite. The people in the. In the Capitol, that stayed between the ropes. And, yes, there was some shenanigans. I don't know. When I look at some of the videos from yesterday and last night, I don't know. I mean, we, you know, we had a gathering downtown. Phoenix. I bet you didn't know that, Anthony. And I'm not worried about Phoenix as much as I am la, Portland, Oregon, you know, the usual suspects. I just wonder if it's ever going to go into the suburbs, go nationwide. You know, if every domino falls at once. Let's say Russia does decide to shoot some off at Alaska or California. Or California be right. But what if, you know, what if there is actually a nuclear strike of some sort or another? You know, I've been saying, at least for the last couple of years, what is the definition of World War Three? I mean, we are at war. We're still. We have a presence in the whole Palestine, Israel, Hamas situation, Ukraine and Russia. That's still a thing. I forgot to mention that earlier. We're bombing people in Nigeria. I mean, when shots are fired in Venezuela, when Cuban security guards are killed, when, you know, mothers are killed in Venezuela, what constitutes exactly World War iii? How do I know we're in it? Because I'm almost thinking this. This. It's global. I'm almost thinking we're in rural war. [00:37:06] Speaker D: Maybe we'll actually have a declaration of war at some point then. [00:37:10] Speaker A: Sweet. Instead of an executive order. That'd be nice. And every president has done, you know, things in other countries. One president did drone strikes without a due process. So it's not reserved just for one side of the aisle, by the way. So. And I, you know, back at home, the Minnesota thing, I listened to the interview with Fry, I listened to the interview with Waltz, I listened to the interview with the police. You know, the. The head dog of the police. And I'm just like, man, you guys want to fight so bad, so let's see here. Insurrection. I wrote all this stuff down. There's a chance that the Insurrection act will be brought back. I'm not sure. I mean, it's. And. And you can't really make that political, Anthony, because it was invoked by other presidents too. Jefferson, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Bush Sr. Bush Senior. He said he was Republican. I don't know that I was actually in the military at the time, during Desert Storm and Shield and all that happy stuff when he was in office. So Insurrection act, that. That is probably. And the Supreme Court said, bring it on. They said it's okay. That is. Is getting very likely. I'm a little bit more worried about martial law. I mean, if there's going to be violence in the streets and it starts growing legs and it starts getting out of the. The cities, I guess we need the military to, you know, corral. I don't know. I need a good word here. We might need them so a bunch of people don't start fighting. I don't know. And. But martial law, if they tell me to stay in my house, that's where I have a problem. Anyway, you just said the First Amendment, so, I mean, you're right, but I think, like, if Walt said you need to go to the movie theater and yell fire, you know, just for the heck of it, that that wouldn't be allowed, I don't think. Right. [00:38:55] Speaker D: Because that has nothing to do with standing up against the government. [00:38:58] Speaker A: Okay. That's all. [00:38:59] Speaker D: The first, again, the First Amendment is just to say that you can talk against the government without repercussions. [00:39:06] Speaker A: Right. I thought it was the right. I thought it. I thought it encompassed a bunch of different things. I thought it was, we have the right to peacefully assemble. Were the assemblies yesterday peaceable? I mean, and I guess what I'm getting at too is everything has two sides. You and I have to always take different sides. Part of it because our age is part of it because you. You want to make sure, you know, to keep me on my toes. I think that the First Amendment. I hate that I'm even about to say this is going to have to have limitations. You know, the video, the Insurrection video. You know, I guess we. We could talk about the astronaut again. You know, there. Apparently he's going to be stripped of his rank or something. I guess. I guess, you know, he might have some. Some changes in his life. I think that the thing that Tim Waltz said yesterday, the thing that Fry said, the thing that astronaut and his other five cohorts said, they're definitely telegraphing to Half of the country. It's time. We will. We got your back like the summer love. We'll pay for the attorneys. You know, Antifa. Black lives matter. You all need to come out of your houses again. Put on your black ski masks, start creating ruckus. If you get in trouble, we'll bail you out. Kamala Harris is ready with the big dollars to get you legal representation if you get in trouble. I think half the country is so ready to fire this off. So that's where I think yesterday is morphing into a real dangerous territory. And you know what? Be prepared, not scared. I feel like I've got a team of people I would trust. I feel like I'd be one of the last men standing right now if there was an insurrection in Sun City. I feel like I know the right people. My experience over the years with the American Legion, the American Legion Riders, you know, my friends that I know that like to go to the range. I. I don't know. I just. I feel like I have the right support system. I've got a friend who's a nurse. I've. I've got different people that could all get together if we needed to. You know, I. I know this is an evil thing to say now because it's. It's long gone, but I was a member of the Oath Keepers years ago. That's how I met a lot of the people that I met that seemed to be concerned with the direction of the country. And by the way, the Oath Keepers, you know, the Southern Poverty Law center said that they were a, you know, terrorist organization. You do realize, right, it's all veterans and law enforcement officers, people that swore an oath to this country. So. What a. What a holy. What an unholy Crocker. You know, what that was? Anyway, so I guess we'll drop this because every single media outlet in the planet is going to cover it to death. So I guess we don't have to. But Minnesota, I mean, let's. Let's see how it pans out. Let's see if it's, you know, if yesterday was the beginning or the end of it. I. I just don't know. You know, and. And don't forget, by the way, about Minnesota. Don't. Don't forget about Nick Shirley. Nick Shirley. You know, you better get security. You better at least have a bodyguard. I mean, I've seen some of the threats to you. I think that whole thing if. If we go back to fraud, waste, and abuse, I think the NGO system, I think that that's been kind of a. Kind of a mess. You know, you've got Mondami is in place now as of January 1st. And it's kind of funny. It's kind of funny how that he said buses were going to be free, but then at the beginning of the year, they raised the bus price. They raised the bus price by $3. Had a thing here. I don't know if it matters, but he raised bus passes. And so Mondame that that's what half the country wants. I just think you better be careful what you wish for because it might not work out that well. Nick. Surely the things with NGOs and stuff in Minnesota, that's not going to go away. So that'll be pushed down a little bit, but it's not going to go away. You know, when I look at, when I look at everything going on, when I talk about the domino theory, you know, if Nigeria, Iran, China, Taiwan, if all of this stuff gets heated at once, it'll be like Domino's. Same thing in this country. I mean, if New York starts having big problems, apparently there's already a mass exodus, mass exodus from New York, which of course. Let me. I'm going to read something to you as long as I'm on fraud, waste and abuse. Let's see here. The. The United states collects about 2.4 trillion. Seems like an amateur number when you set it next to 38.5 trillion. The United States collects about 2.4 trillion a year in income taxes. That sounds like a lot. It is. In fact, it's more than the entire national budget of every other country on earth except China. So money is not the problem. Now look at the other number. We lose an estimated 1.5 trillion every year to waste, fraud, abuse. That's not roads, that's not schools. That's not helping the poor. That's money that disappears because systems are sloppy, corrupt or deliberately exploited. Here's the part that should shock everyone. If we eliminated the fraud, the government would only need to collect about 900 billion in income tax to function at today's level. Not 2.4 trillion 900 billion. That means something wild. Everyone making under roughly $500,000 a year. That's most of us could pay zero federal income tax. Literally zero. No trick, no math games. Just stop lighting money on fire. What's the first image? See here? The US Income tax hall alone rivals full budgets. I guess I'll stop there. Raising taxes is easier. You don't need to fix broken systems. You don't need to fire anyone. You get a bigger pot of money. This article is very interesting, but it basically says what I've been saying forever. We have to somehow we have to change our political structure, we have to change our healthcare structure. I know this is kind of a jump, but Anthony, do you realize Today is the 8th as we record of January? Do you know the government shutdown? The next one is on the 30th of January. Did you know that? Yeah, hopefully you do that. So the government's going to shut down again. Remember how that happened last year? You know, it was so last year. So we, I'm sure we don't remember it. They're going to shut down again. We're broke. We're 38 trillion in debt. What is the fight going to be about for this one? I'm guessing it's going to be about health care. You know, we have such a broken health care system. Without subsidies, people can't have health care. They can't have health insurance, they can't make their way. They need their subsidies, which are on hold right now. So at the end of January, we'll see what happens. If we're going to fight about subsidies, you know what else is going on, Sam? I, I, something else that's going on. The President just came out. Apparently our defense budget is $1 trillion annually. So from what I hear, I haven't dug into it yet just because I just heard it this morning, for 2027, for the budget for next year, Trump is asking for 1.5 trillion. I mean, when you let that sink in, when we deal with trillions now and not billions with a B anymore, when you think about those numbers, that's a number followed by 12 zeros. It is unfathomable the number trillion. So when you look at a 50% increase right now, we're spending a trillion dollars a year. I guess it's between a trillion and 1.5 trillion just to satisfy the interest on the debt now. So, and I'm always saying we're going the wrong way, you know, Sam, for you and for Anthony's retirement, for your future, we have to stop spending. We have to, we have to do things differently. The definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. That's what we're doing here. And I love the idea that we're safe. I love the ideas that we clean up our house and know who's here. We clean up the voting process and the voter roll and get rid of the fraud in the voting. We need to stop being the World's police. When I was a kid, that was a phrase, that was a term. We're the world's police. We keep order around the globe. We can't do it anymore. Somebody else has to step up. But anyway, $1 trillion and we can't afford it. And now we're going to go to 1.5 trillion. So I don't know and I agree with defense spending over like certain social programs, but I'm very. You know, again, I would love to help people that are food insecure. I would love to help homeless veterans that are on the street. But we need to find out how to run the system to get rid of the fraud in those systems. I know people that have scammed those systems, so I know for a fact. And if I know, that means it's bigger. So let's see here. Anthony puts on the board. He needs to do something. Anthony, I can finish the show without you. Anthony's got an electrician that he's got to meet up with. Is that wrong that I'm saying your personal business? So what are you doing? [00:48:15] Speaker D: I figure you could have just asked me a question and then if I had just didn't interrupt you, you would just keep talking. [00:48:21] Speaker A: Correct. And that's what I'm still going to do when you leave. But good luck. [00:48:25] Speaker D: Are you having the best of this report while I'm gone? [00:48:27] Speaker A: I, that's. I, I want, I need more time. Probably. [00:48:30] Speaker D: I don't know. [00:48:30] Speaker A: But let's see. [00:48:31] Speaker D: Of course not. [00:48:32] Speaker A: Yes, I have the 2025 Festivus report in my hand. I just picked it up as to make me not a liar. And it's, it's pretty good. Anthony, as long as you made that segue for me. Let me just read the summary of the. You know, Sam, I think what we should do is like for the next six months, just every week, let's read a couple line items from the Festivus Report instead of hitting it all in one episode because it's so ridiculous. So let's do that. I want to just read a little quick summary sheet on the Festivus Report. And then next week we're going to read a couple line items. And if you remind me, I'm going to do that every week. So this is from. And I wish Anthony hadn't just stepped out. I think he's putting a disco ball in his living room or something. Why do you need an electrician, Anthony? So he would be proud of me for this one because I went to senate.gov I went to the Homeland Security Governmental affairs page. I didn't just read whatever Forbes put out on this Dr. Paul. This by the way is from Tuesday, December 23rd Dr. Paul releases 2025 Festivus report on government waste Let me just read a hair of this. I love this stuff. Sam this marks Dr. Paul's 11th edition of the Festivus Report as he continues working to alert the American people to how their federal government uses their hard earned money. Paul Dr. Rand dude, come on our show. We need Sam how do we get Dr. Paul on our show? Because that's similar to what we do. We sound alarms. Did I just call Rand Paul dude? That I really call Dr. Paul dude. But we have to get that dude on the show. He's probably a listener so he's probably already trying to find team in another morning show. So let's, let's get a couple of these highlights just from the summary. Some of the highlights include cash, going toward experiments, teaching ferrets to binge drink alcohol and dosing dogs with cocaine. He put again in parentheses the dog cocaine thing is not a new one. It wouldn't be a Festivus Waste celebration without mentioning the 2.1 million spent for researchers to collect saliva samples and survey partiers at Edmund Clubs festivals in New York City about their drug use. White coat waste I'm sorry that I'm laughing because this really isn't funny. Sam I'm sorry you're not going to get Social Security one day. White coat waste helped us uncover hundreds of millions of your hard earned tax dollars, funding, labs, gain of function research and brutal experiments on dogs, monkeys and rats. That part's not funny to me. That includes over 13.8 million on Beagle experiments. Dr. Fauci, if you're listening, stop. We don't want you as a listener. 14.6 billion or is that million? I don't even know. To make monkeys play a Price is Right inspired video game and so much more. Year after year Washington continues to waste taxpayers dollars adding 1.2 trillion of interest payments alone to the national debt. And I know we're almost out of time. I wanted to get into AI. I wanted to get into the water usage, the silver consumption of AI. Thad called me gave me some fears on AI. Kevin, I know you listen every week. Kevin wanted me to talk about the president doesn't want BlackRock to buy homes private homes in the country. We have many so much to get to. I need a six hour show every day. Sam so. And I need the dude Rand Paul on the show. I'VE got two things we have to work on. You know, if I win the lottery, I'm going to quit being a financial advisor and just get a show every day that I would have so much fun. I love this. I guess I have to do Anthony's job. I guess my back hurts because I'm carrying him again. And tell you thank you for being here. Thank you for listening to us. We have no quotas, no pressures. We have no minimums. If you need help with how to set up a budget will help you. If you need to just sit down and Talk about your 401k and your asset allocations, we'll help you. We don't charge. Your complimentary consultation isn't just for the first five callers. It's for all of you. You don't have to save $250,000 or more to see us. We're here for you. What else Sam, does Anthony say every week? You would think I would listen to him. But as much as he doesn't listen to me, I pretty much don't listen to him either. So anyway, we're so happy you were here today. We want to do it again next week. We want you to come to West Valley Men's Network. So reach out to us about that. And Sam, happy New Year. Thank you so much for everything. I know this has been pretty much the best almost four years now of my life. So let's, let's do it again. At least for another six months. Happy New Year, everybody. Thanks for listening. Happy New Year. [00:53:29] Speaker C: Thanks for listening to another money show. [00:54:05] Speaker B: When most of us think about retirement, what comes to mind is dollar signs. How much we've saved, how much we'll spend. But there's another factor that may matter just as much. Where to retire. I'm Jim Tarabo here for the Retirement Radio Network powered by Amerilife. A recent study done by CNBC gives the American Retirement System a C grade professor and director of Pension Research Council for the Wharton School of Business. Olivia S. Mitchell weighs in. [00:54:32] Speaker A: Every country's retirement system is a product. [00:54:36] Speaker D: Of the path that it grew on. [00:54:38] Speaker B: Between the cost of living, individual state tax laws and possible Social Security insolvency. It's as important as ever to choose the right location of where you'll spend your golden years. But where to go? According to a comprehensive Wallet Hub report, the states that make your retirement dollars stretch without sacrificing care, comfort or community tell an intriguing story. At the top of the list? Florida. It's no surprise the Sunshine State boasts no state income tax and generous funding per senior through programs like the Older Americans Act. Don't forget the miles of shoreline, golf courses and lifestyle perks that many retirees dream of. But Florida isn't the only shining star. In Minnesota, access to world class health care facilities and home health services helps it land at number two on the list. Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota come in at 3, 4 and 5, respectively, all offering low cost of living and a slow pace of life amid big skies and wide open spaces. Let's not forget the affordability and low crime. So as you look toward the golden sunset or help someone you love planned for it, consider this do you want tax relief, medical peace of mind or scenic freedom? Pick your priority, weigh it against your budget and let the data guide you. Because when it comes to retirement, the best place to live isn't just where you can afford. It's where you can thrive. For the retirement die Radio Network powered by AmeriLife, I'm Jim Tarabokia.
