[00:00:14] Speaker B: This is another Money Show. Get set for another hour of the latest financial information and economic news affecting your bottom line. J.R. and Anthony are committed to helping more Americans like you optimize their income, reduce their tax risk and reach financial freed.
So let's start the show. Here are your hosts, Anthony Correjo and J.R. rachford.
[00:00:37] Speaker C: Here we are, your hosts Anthony Correo and J.R. roche for taking a break from our day to day as financial advisors with Rochford and Associates, fully independent fourth generation family office right here in the Greater Phoenix area to bring you news you may not hear on those other financial radio shows where the last thing you need is another money show. But we appreciate you being here and I felt like I had some news to share before I passed off to Jer, but I don't remember what it is anymore. So it's all you.
[00:01:06] Speaker D: Maybe it'll come to you.
[00:01:07] Speaker C: Maybe it will interrupt
[00:01:09] Speaker D: today.
That'll be great. So today as we record is 29 October. Did this year go fast or is it just my imagination?
[00:01:18] Speaker C: It did go fast.
It's nice that summer's over though.
[00:01:23] Speaker D: Yeah. Oh, I can't wait for the cooler weather. Apparently we're not going to go back into the hundreds anymore this year. At least that's what I think it was. Royal Norman said. So let's jump in. It's the 29th, so Halloween's in two days and I thought Anthony was wearing an orange shirt but apparently it's a deep red.
So. Yeah, I thought you were all festive for Halloween. I thought I know you didn't do that on purpose, but that's kind of cool. So anyway, Halloween's coming up. Voting next Tuesday. As you hear this, either you've already voted or hopefully you will. I'm still not sure if it matters, but for peace of mind, make sure you vote. Anyway, our show. You know what, let me knock out the shout outs. I actually have lot this week so I've got a loyal listener. He's a newer listener. He works at Desert Diamond Casino. I see him periodically. So anyway, he's been listening and I just want to shout it out because anytime I know somebody's a loyal listener. I appreciate that he's not a big fan of Anthony, which I like even better. Actually, I shouldn't say that he doesn't know because apparently Anthony doesn't talk as much as I do. So anyway, he doesn't
[00:02:26] Speaker C: know, but I'm sure I believe in myself. If he really got to know me, he wouldn't like me.
[00:02:30] Speaker D: He would not like you any more than he does now. I'm going to. You know, that is probably true. Another shout out. I found out last Saturday in my travels that a guy that I knew was listening months ago is still listening every Saturday. So the owner of Mr. Pickles, the one on Happy Valley. So Tim, wonderful man, amazing sandwiches. If you're out and about and make sure you go to his. I guess there's a few locations, but go to Tim's.
The sandwiches are so good. If you like to be treated fair with the amount of meat and so forth in your sandwich, go to Mr. Pickles and ask for Tim and thank him for listening to the show. We have Chris. I found out one of my friends who's a correctional officer is still listening to the show. And I just, I don't know why, but this week, all of a sudden, I talked to a lot of people about listening to the show. Chris taught me a term that I had never heard. I'm not going to go into it today, but he taught me the term prison pocket. So anyway, Chris, thank you so much for listening. Patriot Radio News Hour. I want to shout them out. I'm still on on Mondays. I stay on every Monday for the entire hour. I only get to talk about maybe, I don't know, four minutes, seven minutes total. But I'm on there every hour. So thank you so much to Joe, Jason, Jack, for letting me on. We got to get Joe back on this show. It's been a little while, so I'm going to reach out to Joe and set up a date, get him back on here to update our show. We. I went to a presentation this week on I don't know what day it was, Monday or Tuesday. And it was. It had a employee from CAP from the, the Central Arizona Project. And I'm not going to say the woman's name because I don't. I don't know. You know, I didn't ask her if I could. So I'm just not going to. I'm going to err on the side of cautious. She was wonderful. And I, to me, I really wanted to be at this presentation because it was on water. And as you know, our show is watching that issue very closely. We're watching the difference between the thought of scarcity and the thought of abundance. And I thought, here's somebody actually in the know that's going to say, was our guest Jeff correct or was our guest Mark Burr correct? So I, at this presentation was amazing. I asked her if she'd come on the show and she said yes. The only problem is she's looking at end of December or beginning of January before she has a Thursday that she can come on. I learned that if you're on the board at the Central Arizona Project, you're a volunteer. This woman is busier than most people on the planet and she's not being paid.
So just so you know, this is a labor of love for this woman. She's actually from Arizona, born and raised and she cares about what's happening. I will sum up what I learned on whether or not Jeff is right or Mark is right. The answer is yes. They are definitely both right. There is a scarcity.
There is definitely the odds of us paying more for our water bill. The odds of us starting to ration water are rising. This recent rain helped. Hopefully the snowpack this winter will help. I know we've gained what I think it's 8ft of water in Lake Powell over the last 30 days. And I'm going to give you the bottom line. It is, Mark is 100% correct. There's water everywhere. We can go get water if we want to. We're being throttled back.
We're basically for political, for monetary and power political reasons, we are not being allowed to get the water. Yes, there is a scarcity problem and yes, there is an abundance. And the answer is how do we leave the scarcity side and move over to the abundant side. We'll keep you posted. We can have Mark back on. We, we can have this young lady on, we can have Jeff back on whatever people want, but we're going to keep up on this issue until there's some resolution. And she did bring up like a lot of the things, you know, that Mark said. You know he quoted Andy Biggs talking about 300 years of water. She said all of that is, is definitely true. They have hundreds of years of banked underground water. So it's basically the government's not funding the programs to get the water up and get it treated and get it to us. We need more infrastructure. She talked about wet water versus paper water credits. See here. Oh, the last thing she talked about, somebody brought up data centers and she said basically, yes, some are more self contained than others. But she said yes, that in general that is a fear, that is a concern that they will have a huge adverse effect on our water. Very interesting. Moving on. We have so much to get to. I'm not even sure where to start. So I guess I'm going to give you the very most important thing. And the way that I'm judging this as the most important thing to bring you is because this week, more than any other week I can remember, I've had scores of people, I mean, I don't know, probably 20 people reach out to me in the past week on the same issue.
Macy in our office sent me something. We have a friend named Vanna R. She'll know who she is. Alex, Anthony's neighbor. Alex. We have a friend out of state named Julie. Just. We had lots of people. I had one person who kind of mocked the new update that we now have, the screw worm in Arizona. So I'm not going to spend a lot of time on that. Let me read something one of these people sent to me. Britain is telling citizens to stock up on emergency supplies. The Pentagon is working toward making military bases self sufficient for 90 days. And multiple European countries are preparing their populations for major disruptions.
Maybe it's all just precautionary, but when governments start preparing for systems to fail, isn't it reasonable to ask what they're expecting? So, and then I get. And I got so many texts here. I'll just read a couple. This one is from. Well, I guess I won't say who it's from. Something's really going on.
Tons of jet activity at Luke today as I watch from next door, flying in pairs like they're practicing for something. Sky harbor is going to do drills. Palo Verde just announced they're going to be testing sirens. I'm counting a total of six in the air, cruising around in circles, going down to land and then coming up again, it seems. So those, those sorties, those missions, those flights that are going on, that is not unusual. It is. And by the way, this text was just from yesterday, the 28th of October.
I noticed it too.
I noticed yesterday. I mean, because I'm in Sun City, so I'm right in the flight plan. I mean, these things are so loud, you know. And then you next door and Facebook, you get all the people, you know, complaining, well, you bought a house right next to a military installation, so you took that chance. And then you get the people say, well, I love to hear it. It's the sound of freedom. I will tell you. I was stationed at Luke air Force Base 87 and 91. I love the jets. I love the idea of living near a military base. I think it'd be less, less likely that I'm unsafe. Unless it's more of a target, I don't know. But anyway, so there was more activity yesterday. I don't think you're imagining it. It went late into the night. I don't go to bed early and I was just, I was kind of amazed by how much was going on this morning. Very quiet. I will tell you something that I also saw, actually I believe I saw this early this morning. There is going to be an emergency broadcast. They're calling it the official emergency Alert System test. Scheduled for November 17th. There is a follow up date set of December 3rd. If an other emergency takes precedence or there's any kind of weather problem that forces the postponement between people texting and everything going on between the upcoming emergency broadcast. I'm not sure exactly what the governments are planning for. I can tell you that it's not just our country. And I did gather articles as I do. I wound up in my travels finding this is global, this is international.
Some of the other countries that are explaining what to actually prepare, uk, Britain, Germany.
[00:10:58] Speaker C: Here's the thing, we've been bringing this up on the show for a while. So I get that the government's doing it and maybe it's one of those like, oh, is now the time to prepare? But like, I don't know, if you've listened to the show, you probably should have 90 days worth of food and water and stuff in the house already.
[00:11:12] Speaker D: That's funny you mentioned that. Because my bottom line was after I read a few details about what's going on currently, I was going to say, luckily our listeners have already prepared our show. For four and a half years the motto has been be proactive, not reactive, be prepared, not scared. So Anthony, you are spot on. We just had a doctor reach out to us. I don't know, maybe a month ago. I talked about how we have a list of basically prep 101 stuff that you should consider owning if you have the money in the space. And the doctor wanted the list. I've given out the list a bunch of times.
The other countries, Netherlands, Sweden, Ireland, France, Australia.
What I'm pointing at is this is the first time I've ever heard globally the leadership saying something is right. Nobody's saying what. You know, you've got talk show hosts. The big one floating around the Internet right now is Dan Bongino and Glenn Beck. And they are. And yes, that's part of the texts I got was people sending me the clips. You know, the 15 or 16 minute Glenn Beck clip. I got that eight or 10 times between yesterday and today. So far, the one from Dan Bongino, I've gotten four or five. So it's just all sudden. It's like this from we always know we should prepare to them saying, you need to prepare now, that's unusual. And you know, we, we kind of keep an eye on the Department of Homeland Security. I'm on a couple text alerts that gives me ideas of something weird's going on.
You know, the, the.
Just this seems odd. Anyway, let me get to a couple of these articles real quick.
One and I did. Oh, another shout out. We had a couple in our office, Sam and Pat, and they did not know we do a radio show. They do now. They came in the office this week. They've been clients and friends for years. But they know now that we have a radio show. So I forgot to shout them out. It was so great to see you guys. So we'll see you soon. And if you're listening, thanks, we appreciate it. So. And I did show Sam some of the articles I was working on. I showed him four just for this subject because I said one of the things I have to be careful about. I don't want people to call me out on something and say, what you. The information you brought was not true. So in my normal travels, I collect 10 to 15 articles per week of things I think are should be of interest to the listeners. And my habit is I don't get the article and stop there. I make sure there's two or three sources saying the same thing. Well, what I showed to Sam was, you know, because a lot of the fear right now is everything's political. So I showed that. I got something from CNN and from Fox and I showed them that. I really, I tried to make sure that nobody can say, well, you know, made that up because I don't. Anyway, moving on. So I have four articles here. One is from moneycontrol.com one is from the end time headlines, one is from Newsweek, and one is from the Defense News.
I'll read you a little portion of a couple of these and then we'll move on from there.
So this one, the Defense News, is from October 26th. And by the way, I always offer this. I'll be glad to email these articles over to you if anybody is, you know, if this piques your interest and you want to read more, I'll give you the sources or I'll give the actual articles.
So the Pentagon launches Fortress Initiative to make major US bases self sufficient for 90 days.
See here. The the was announced by the Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on September 30, 2026, during his state of the Force address.
Fortress stands for the Federal Operations for Resilience, Troop Resources, Energy Supply and Survivability.
The military loves their acronyms, so that's cool. So let's see here. 500 installations in the continental United States are part of this mandate. And it is a mandate. This is not optional. For these bases, the initiative calls for strategic reserves of munitions, fuel, medical supplies, electronic components, spare parts and critical minerals, which currently we get a lot of our critical minerals from China, but that's about to end.
By strengthening energy supplies, stockpiles, manufacturing capacity and communications, the Pentagon aims to keep military bases operational even when civilian infrastructure and international supply chains are disrupted. So we're going to keep our troops safe. We're going to keep the military bases safe. But what about the people?
What are you planning on doing for us other than warning us to make sure we have 72 hours of food and water? And by the way, if you're listening to us, you already know this. Give me a break. 72 hours. You have 72 hours before like, you know, bad guys are in the street going to take what you've amassed. 72 hours. What did we learn during COVID You know, it was a respiratory illness and yet there was a shortage of toilet paper. So what did we learn? What did you need? Toilet paper, hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes. What if it happens with food? I've been trying to warn people. What if it happens with water itself? 72 hours later? People are going to freak. So this one just all. I'm just going to read a couple of lines from each article. This one from the end time headlines. Why is the US military preparing for 90 days without power? I would say that's my number one concern.
If Iran, if North Korea, by the way, North Korea just this morning on the 29th of October. This will get lost in the shuffle. They sent 10 missiles fly in this morning. South Korea is a little, a little bit alarmed at that. Ten rockets were fired off this morning from North Korea. Anyway, so the Pentagon is advancing a major doomsday plan that would allow US military bases to operate for at least 90 days without civilian power, water or fuel. According to a report from the Daily Express, the initiative known as Fortress is unfolding as the United States manages two significant ongoing conflicts and prepares for the possibility of a larger war that could cripple power grids, break supply chains and threaten critical, critical infrastructure across American territory. This is the most direct warning I've ever seen in my 60 something years on the planet. By the way, a central concern is the military's reliance on civilian electrical networks that support communications, logistics and weapons production.
To counter this vulnerability, Fortress calls for portable nuclear reactors. This is like. This is serious when you're talking about that. I thought they would get like a, you know, a whole, whole home generator. A generic. No, they're talking about nuclear reactors, large battery storage systems and micro grids that would let bases disconnect from the public power grids and keep functioning through extended outages.
You don't want to be making these decisions in the middle of a global multi front conflict. We have to have a plan, he said. Our whole show talking about proactive versus reactive. What is the government's plan? It is always reactive, not proactive. And my fear is power number one. Because without power, guess what else you're not going to get. You do realize we rely on electricity to get our water to us. We rely on electricity to make sure the ATM works. So I can go get my 500 bucks. We everything is based on power. One of my friends, he used to be a neighbor, but I have since moved. I'm going to make up a fake name that no parent would ever name their child. I had a friend named Thad and Thad and I went to a class. This is going back, I don't know, probably 10, 12 years ago, 15, I don't know, on EMP, electromagnetic pulse. Apparently for decades this has been a known issue in this country. The power grids are not stable. They haven't been for decades. And the government hasn't fixed it. Maybe that's what this is all about. I don't know. I actually went back, I wound up taking the class three times because I couldn't, I just couldn't take it all in. And I was like, wow, how on earth is this information? The government has a book. They have a book that you can find on this and the vulnerabilities.
So anyway, Thad and I went to the class.
This was my old days when I used to actively be a prepper. And by the way, I hate the word prepper because it's gotten a negative connotation. When the show Doomsday Preppers was on tv, you know, made everybody look crazy. Drain your pool, put in aquaponics, underground bunkers, spider holes, you Know, some people just want to be prepared which is the root of prepper. Anyway, so the, the whole thing I'm getting at here, if the government, which in this country they're saying 72 hours, in Germany they're saying a week. It's different around the world. If they're telling you to have three days worth of sustainability in your house, I would tell you three months and not exaggerate. No, not three weeks. Three months where you don't have to leave your house. If it was me.
Let's see. I'm just going to read one more line, this one from Newsweek.
The U.S.
has warned Beijing and Washington could clash over the fate of Taiwan. We've been talking about that for the four and a half years we've been on the show that China might try to, you know, re annex Taiwan. But we will see.
Should China move to reclaim the island that has been self governing for decades. China aims to be able to invade Taiwan by 2027, according to U.S. officials.
Although they stress this doesn't mean Beijing will would enact any plans by this date. In other words they don't know or they're not going to tell you. So why bring it up? Well, because we got to read their stuff. US intelligence agencies have also previously warned that China was trying to place hackers within American critical infrastructure such as electrical grids and water supplies to be activated in case of a war with the US and yes, they look for soft targets. So public works, that's one of the things they will look for. I didn't even think to ask that woman from cap, you know, if they worry about, you know, any kind of breaches in the water system and all that. Anyway, I guess I'll move on from this. What I'm getting at is this is a big topic. Had Sam, Anthony. No, not record, rhetorical. I want to know have you heard about this? Have you heard about Fortress? Have you heard about stocking up?
Sam is no.
You have heard about it before today?
[00:22:04] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:22:06] Speaker D: And you are so mellow. You know what I like about Anthony? Well, we've had a world war, we've had a black plague, we've had all this stuff. It's just evolution. Change is inevitable. You are correct. But this is in your lifetime, which is, I don't know, three and a half decades in my lifetime, which is six over six decades. We've never had the entire world say it's time, it's time to go out and shop for the end of the world. It's never happened. So you haven't seen this. So this is new. We've never had 40.
[00:22:39] Speaker C: But I've listened to another money show who already warned me that it's the end of the world. So I've already prepared
[00:22:45] Speaker D: and I am happy for you. But you do realize, right, that we have listeners of all different walks of life. Tim.
Tim from Mr. Pickles. He has a food supply. Luckily, I'm going to go to Tim's house if the, you know, what is the fan and have sandwiches with Tim. I, I'm just. You might be prepared, Anthony. And if you want to give it your home address and what kind of fortitudes you have on your fortress, you can, you can do that. I mean, be a giving, caring dude. I'm just, we have a responsibility. This show is not an hour long infomercial. I say that every week. It's about sounding alarms. I sounded alarms last week about the upcoming digital currency. I can go into that again too, if you want a little more update on that. It's coming.
What is going to be the caveat for why you would have to stay in your house for three days? According to the government? Three months, according to junior. His, his opinion only allegedly. What's coming up? Is it China and Taiwan?
Is it. The war is going to resume right after the midterm elections. You know, Trump came out on a rally and basically said we're going to do another whatever the word it was, iron fist, strike, calamity, end the world thing. You know, right after the midterms.
I don't know. I don't know what's going to cause it. I know that North Korea, it's been known for decades, has satellites over our country that could do an EMP and knock out our power grid. I know that people have just taken rifles and shot at APS substations just if they go offline. I know that anything could happen right now if it's not something that extreme. Oh, man, it's almost break time. Should I hold that thought?
Why don't we do this? Why don't we take a break? And then when I come back from the break, I will finish my very last thoughts on you being prepared.
So reach out to us if we can help you with how much food and water to buy and what to do with your finances, whether you should be, you know, prepared and not scared with your finances. We'll be honored. We're at 623-523-0444. You can always email us if you're too shy to talk to us. We're at
[email protected] so again, reach out to us. We'd love to be a second opinion. We'd love to help you with your finances and we'd love to help you be prepared. In General. We're at 623-523-0444 and we will be right back. Thanks for being with us. It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it. It's me.
[00:25:26] Speaker E: Every October, the ordinary gives way to the eerie when ghosts, goblins, skeletons and all the things that go bump in the night come crawling out of the shadows. And somehow we're perfectly comfortable opening the door to strangers and giving them candy. But there's another kind of scary that tends to show up around this time of year. You may know it, you may have experienced it, the financial scary. I'm Jim Tarabokia for the Retirement Radio Network powered by Amerilife. As we enter the final quarter of the year, millions of Americans are thinking about the celebrations ahead. But for some, there's another feeling creeping in the uncertainty that comes with their financial lives. NFCC CEO Mike Croxton details the CNBC the financial stress Americans are facing this fall.
[00:26:12] Speaker F: There's a tipping point where consumers free cash flow at some point will not amortize their outstanding unsecured debt. And that issue is simply creeping its way up the income and age ranks. And that's really what the forecast is telling us this quarter.
[00:26:29] Speaker E: Maybe it's the thought of opening your investment statement after a rough week in the market.
Maybe it's an unexpected medical bill. It could be inflation quietly eating away at your purchasing power. Or maybe as retirement gets closer, there's one question that keeps coming back. Will I have enough? Planning for retirement means confronting a future none of us can predict. But even with today's financial environment creating uncertainty, BlackRock's head of retirement Jamie Margera tells CNBC there can be reason for optimism when it comes to retirement readiness.
[00:27:00] Speaker G: What we found this year was some great news, right? People are actually much more more confident about their retirement readiness. So 68% of savers think they're on track to have the retirement that they want, which is great news. Like they have optimism. They're confident about it.
[00:27:16] Speaker E: Maybe there's a lesson behind the financial scaries. The things we don't understand tend to feel bigger when we're standing in the dark. Sometimes the best thing you can do is turn on the light. Take a closer look at your retirement plan. Ask the uncomfortable questions understand where your income will come from, what risk you may face, and where there may be gaps because you can't predict everything that lies ahead. But you can prepare for it. And while the ghosts may disappear when Halloween is over, financial uncertainty doesn't necessarily disappear with them. For the Retirement Data Radio Network powered by Amerilife, I'm Jim Tarabaghia.
[00:28:00] Speaker A: Remember, all of JR and Anthony's listeners receive a free financial consultation just for listening to the show. Visit anothermoneyshow.com to learn more and schedule an appointment. Thanks for listening to Another Money show and subscribing wherever you listen to podcasts.
[00:28:14] Speaker D: Welcome back to Another Money Show. Thank you so much for being with us. So you know what, we've had a good run. Our country's made it 250 years and I think it's time that, I mean if we have to go into the Cheyenne, Wyoming into the underground bunkers and you know, I, somebody sent me a screenshot yesterday. I didn't even have time to look into it. That's how much people were reaching out to me yesterday. It's from the Daily Mail. I'm not even sure what source that is. I don't think I usually cite that news just in this was yesterday breaking news.
US Launches readiness drills with doomsday planes and, and bombers airborne worldwide as I'm already worried about, you know, more planes than usual and very troubling yesterday how many people reached out to the same kind of concerns. So you know, four and a half years of doing the show and I've, I've had different people reach out to me with things that are important to them. I've never had this many people on one issue reach out to me in a 24 hour span as I've had, you know, leading up to their show recording today. So it's telling. I know people want to hear about it. So. And Anthony, I'm surprised you had heard about it. Sam, I'm not as surprised because you try to avoid know, hearing some of this stuff which is very good for your health and very smart and I think that's wonderful. And I will tell you when I bring up that list our, I call it the, I call it the Prep101 list. We'll be glad to email it to you if you wish. But it's, it just talks about generator. You know, if you have a regular generator, you have to have gas, you have to cycle it, you know, talk about AV fuel, you know, preferably get a solar generator. Talk about having HEPA Filters, iodine, Geiger counter. If you think anything nuclear is going to happen, you should fill your bathtub with water right away. If you. If. If it seems like things are weird in case there's a water disruption, talk about food, where to get it. For example, there's an LDS store in Glendale that has reasonable storage food, you know, radio, flashlights, candles, matches, all the stuff you already know. But we put it in a list and you can always add a list and maybe you'll have some stuff that we don't even have on our list. So we'll get it over to you if you want. Why are some people so worried about it? And some people are like, Anthony, I'm going to read you one of my favorite psychological terms and tell you what it is real quick.
If Anthony was closer, I know he would strike me out of anger. Normalcy bias. I haven't read Normalcy Bias in about three months and I at least every quarter. I'm going to read it to you. Normalcy bias is a cognitive bias which leads people to disbelieve or. Or minimize threat warnings. Consequently, individuals underestimate the likelihood of a disaster when it might affect them and its potential adverse effects. The normalcy bias causes many people to not adequately prepare for natural disasters, market crashes, and calamities caused by human error. The only reason I bring that up is A, to annoy Anthony and B, because I think that kind of explains it's a lot safer not to worry about this stuff. And Anthony's right. We've had all this stuff. I would say we've never had it all at once. I would say that since this is the most extreme warnings I've ever seen from the government, you know, maybe we should take it seriously. But I just. I don't know. There's a lot on the table. When I was a kid, Russia was going to attack us. They were going to nuke us. At school, you had to get in the hallway and put your knees up to your chest. If you're in the classroom, you had to get under your desk in case, like the movie the Day after, if we were nuked, you have to get under your desk quickly. But we're also hearing a lot about AI and how it wants to take over and kill us.
It's very likely that we're going to have a different financial structure over the upcoming months and years. That could cause a lot of weirdness. And then if other countries decide now is a good time, you know, to attack our water supply, it could get real serious. So if I'm wrong. I'm not. If I'm wrong, I just gather information from if all these people that are penning their thoughts. If they're wrong, so what?
We have a lot more listeners than I usually realize. I'm always surprised how many people say they heard the show. It's just interesting if I'm wrong, but if I'm right, this is good stuff. Sam, we've got a robot attack coming. We robots are going to attack us. We've been talking about flock cameras and data centers and AI and you know, I mean, it's just such unchartered territory. So let me get to some better news. Social Security's broke. Sam during the break asked if that was the happy section. He want to know if that was the glass half full portion of the show that we got to or the half empty. I have no good news today. I mean, I talked about the screwworm Barclays. I read that Barclays is laying off 5,000 workers as we speak. I mean, Microsoft, this just came out in the last day or two. Microsoft, pretty big company. They're doing voluntary layoffs for 60,000 employees. Let the number sink in. 60,000. How many people are in a, you know, average sized city? Not the big cities, 60,000. Voluntary. Well, that's voluntary. J.R. what are you worried about? Well, voluntary is usually the first step in. Guess what? So voluntary is usually. Here's a chance to go on your terms. Pretty soon you're going to go on my terms and you're not going to get your pension or your severance package or whatever. 60,000. It's roughly 25% of their workforce. Is there a possibility that Microsoft, a tech company, knows what AI is going to do over the next two, three, five years? I don't know. And the government, who is telling us is to have three days worth of food. Three days. I have three days worth of food in my pockets. I always wear cargo shorts so I can have McDonald's french fries that Sam pointed out last for seven years. I keep McDonald's french fries and I've seen the movie Zombieland. Kevin, Kevin, Kevin, one of our, probably the smartest person other than Anthony and Sam that I've met in my life, loves the movie Zombieland. I turn that on to him. Anyway, so Kevin knows the importance of having Twinkies.
You know, he's not a fan of snowballs, but he likes Twinkies. So I don't know this country, the government, why are they trying to help us? You know, I mean, Bill Gates, if you're listening, Mr. Gates. Allegedly. You want a depopulation. You want us to eat 3D printed meat and eat cricket meal and bugs. What are you warning us for? This would be a great depopulation exercise. I don't know, it seems to me like the powers to be. They want us to dumbed down. Look at the education system and the evolution of their from the 50s. They want us dumbed down, they want us broke, you know, they want us unhealthy, they want us sick. You know, they want to keep us subservient. So I don't know, maybe this is all on purpose. I don't know, I'm not, I'm not sure yet. So anyway, my, my point being there's a lot going on. Social Security, the Social Security system. What if, what if we had to get all the changes in place before that thing really starts getting stressed?
It's about to be 2027. They've told us in 2032 they're going to have to do pay cuts. I've been telling people that get near me for 20 years. I've been saying it periodically on this show for four and a half years. It's going to be a three prong approach. They're going to take younger workers. I'm sorry, for your kids and grandkids. You know, right now they're paying what, 6.25% and then the employers pay the other 600 quarter percent. They're going to have to raise that. I'm sorry, system's broke. You know, we're all in this together. Then it's not going to be enough. So they're going to have to, they're going to have to delay the age. Right now we're very fortunate. You can draw your Social Security at 62 years of age. You can wait to your full retirement age, whatever that is, 66 and 11 months or whatever, or you can wait to 70 and then that's not going to be enough. They're going to have to Change that to 70 or 75. That's the second prong. And then the granddaddy for Anthony and I, because we work in Sun City and we have people on a true fixed income all the way through, people with great wealth and the people on a true fixed income, the lower middle class, the people that are getting by but barely, they're going to lower your wages and I don't know how that's going to end up. Just all of this stuff is coming at once. Nothing happens fast. We've been the world reserve currency since the 1940s. I've read about Bretton Woods. I have an idea. Sam just volunteered to be laid off. Sam, Are you talking about from another money show? Your. Your producing skills? The one and only Sam. Davey, don't. Don't get laid off from another money show. Get laid off from your day job, but not us. So Sam's volunteering to go Bretton Woods. I mean, we became the world reserve currency.
It's time for a new player. Whoever's got the most gold, the golden rule. He who has the most gold rules. It's. Things are changing. And Anthony, I don't want to ever do a big I told you so. I know you've done what you can do and you don't worry about it from there, but I do. I know that you're going to be here 30 or 40 years after me. And you've got to admit, all the change around you, it doesn't seem like it day to day. You know
[00:37:25] Speaker C: how hypochondriacs will eventually die one day because everybody dies in that same sense. That's how you'll be, right one day.
[00:37:34] Speaker D: Correct a broken clock twice a day. Like the boy that Cried Wolf. You know, I mean, I don't name drop, as you know here, because I'm not that pretentious and stuff, but we had Seth Leibson, the very well known local radio talk show host. We had Seth Liebson on and we talked about the Boy that Cried Wolf, AKA Me, Jer. And Seth pointed out the fact that at the end of that story, the reason really was a wolf. You know, we didn't do
[00:37:58] Speaker C: this show.
You can write whatever ending you want to the end of a fictional story.
[00:38:03] Speaker D: I've already, I've. I've had it written for me. I. I read enough articles this week to know that I'm tame versus what I'm reading, so. And yeah, I mean, World War Three. We haven't had World War three yet. Are you kidding me? Israel and Palestine, Ukraine and Russia, Iran, North Korea, I don't know. But I did hear some good news. Sam. I'll give you one positive thing today. Lowe's. I heard a commercial for Lowe's.
Their. Their Black Friday deals are on now. If you pop your way into a Sam's Club or Costco, I think it's the same way. Pop your way into a Home Depot or Lowe's. And like, we're beyond the Halloween decor, which has been out for a month. We're into Christmas already. Lowe's Black Friday. I think it's the Friday After Thanksgiving. Like, slow down. Let me give out candy on Saturday night before.
Oh, Sam. Supporting Lowe's, Sam. And I don't mean to give out your personal business, but Sam just bought a dishwasher from Lowe's. You're probably wondering how to know that, Sam. We have a little board that I can read. What Sam's putting. Sam's very insightful, by the way. Sam's very clever. He doesn't write much, but when he writes stuff, it generally. I generally stop what I'm thinking and read it because it's usually pretty smart. Sam, do you want to talk at all today? Maybe. I feel like.
[00:39:18] Speaker H: I mean, I just was like, wow, that's crazy. You say that. I just bought a Maytag dishwasher that was on sale at Lowe's.
[00:39:25] Speaker D: And was there any indication that it was like a Black Friday type sale or just a general sale?
[00:39:31] Speaker H: I don't know about Black Friday, but hopefully it's going to be delivered and installed early next week because I'm hand washing all of my dishes until then.
[00:39:39] Speaker D: Nice. All right. Aren't you married? Can I say something sexist? That will definitely get me in trouble with Sandy around here. Don't you have a dishwasher? You know what I mean.
[00:39:48] Speaker H: Nice.
[00:39:49] Speaker D: Sorry. Sorry. Anthony's in a serious relationship. He'll know what I'm saying soon, too. It'll be funny to Anthony soon, too. All right, moving on. We have to move on. What do you. What do you want to talk about next? Do. Do you want more end of the world stuff or do you want me to switch gears on something fun? What do you want me to do? How much time do we have left?
We've got
[00:40:06] Speaker H: 13 minutes and change.
[00:40:08] Speaker D: 13. That is lucky. Why don't we. Why don't we do a few things? So. And. And I guess, you know, Anthony, your point is always well taken.
You know, when I say that we're here to sound alarms, we. Unlike the other financial shows, and believe me, I listen to a lot of them, we didn't sign up to do what they do. We are very capable of talking to
[00:40:32] Speaker C: you. We don't like making money here.
[00:40:35] Speaker D: We don't. We would rather turn you off and make you buy nothing but beans and bullets. Beans and rice. We.
We. If you come in, we can help you do your Roth conversion. We can help you with generational wealth transfer. We can help you with a plan for when to take Social Security. We can brainstorm with you so you can be proactive, reactive on your Social Security. We can help you with what your plan is, whether it's insurance, self funding or spending down to get to all tax for your long term care insurance. We can help you with life insurance. You don't need to call Big Louis in his winner winner chicken dinner, fried chicken dinner. You don't need to call, call us, call somebody, you know. So we, we, you know, I want to bring something up. Sam and I talked about it last week and I guess as long as we're on how great we are and what we do in the office, we are not a fan of variable annuities. I haven't presented and or sold a variable annuity in over 20 years. I can't find one that I would own personally. Therefore I don't believe in the product and I can always sit with people and if they believe in it, I'll help them get to somebody that will offer that to them. But I won't.
We, we have people come in the office fairly regularly that still own variable annuities.
They've had a heck of a run. You know, they're market based, they are a security. So when you've had a 17 and a half year run up in the financial markets since March 9th of 9, the end of the 2008 correction, you know, they're looking okay. They, the fees are insane behind the scene, the risk level is high. There are some benefits. There's a thing called ratcheted death benefit. But if you're looking for a bigger death benefit, just buy insurance for Pete's sake. Well, what if I'm really unhealthy? Then buy guaranteed issue insurance and pay a little more. We can help you with that too. If you're unhealthy, come see us.
The companies pay us to find you. So if you're unhealthy and it costs you more for your insurance will get paid a bigger commission. So come see us. We're like Big Lou. We want to start looking for the unhealthy, if possible to come in the office. Anyway. All I'm getting at is we do all of the financial things that you need. So the, the thing is.
[00:42:38] Speaker C: But also tell you to buy a solar generator and stock up food.
[00:42:42] Speaker D: Correct. We are going to spend some of your Money on number 10 cans. We're going to spend some of your money. We're going to tell you we're little things that you just maybe you forgot.
Keep your gas tank 3/4 or more full at any given time. We're going to talk to you about, you know, rechargeable batteries and there's flashlights that are solar. There's all kinds of stuff that we can help you with. Anyway. I listen to the other radio shows and frankly, I think they're a little boring. The other thing is financial planning has been pretty traditional. There's rules, you know, there's people that talk about stuff like the 6040 stock and bond splint. There's all these rules. The only problem with that is the game around you is changing so fast. And a lot of these people, they're not keeping up with how the game's changing. We think that you still have to look at your income, your assets, your risk tolerance. We can help you ascertain what that is. If you're not sure, you have to look at all these things. But you know what? Financial advisors, they're not adding the world around you. This is the most unchartered territory we've ever been in. Every day gets more so we took on this show as a labor of love to sound alarms, not to bore you to tears like some of the other shows. There's a show that comes on right after us. I'm not recommending necessarily that you have to stay and listen to it. It's wonderful. The guy's really good. I enjoy listening to the program.
That's a different animal. I'd like to think we would be kind of similar to that show. We would still be upbeat and personable and funny and not dry and boring like some of the other shows. But we took this on to sound alarms and that's what we're doing. So come in and see us and we'll do traditional financial planning. And one last thing about that variable annuity thing, it's very simple. Come in, bring a statement. We're going to sit at the table.
We're going to call on speakerphone so you hear what we hear. We are going to ask a little series of questions to your current company. Usually we don't call the advisor with you because that's a red flag to them if you're calling from another advisor's office. So we just call the 800 number. You say it's okay to talk to us. You might have to give your date of birth, last four, whatever. And then we ask, is there an annual fee on this product? We ask, what is the ratchet of death benefit fee, if there's a fee for it? We ask, what are the account fees? What are the sub account fees? Is there a rebalancing fee? Is there a mortality and expense charge? We ask all these fees and Charges, and I'm guessing your advisor may not have gone into those very thoroughly for you, so. And things that have gone great for 17 and a half years, if we have another market correction, if we have a bank bail in, if we switch to a digital currency, there might be some disruption in securities. We just want to make sure you're braced for it. We want to make sure if it's appropriate for you. We get ahead of things as they arise.
Sam, if you want to put on the board how much time we have left, I want to go to something more light and airy because I realized today is all about, you know, we're all going to die.
So. And I apologize for that. But it is what it is. And as the young kids say, and a bunch of people are reaching out to me, oh, we got plenty of time. Let's get something fun. And then if I have time, I'll go back to more proof that the digital currency is coming at us like a freight train.
So here is something. This is.
I've got three articles here. I'm gonna skim a little bit. I'm gonna go into a little bit. This is directed to one of our very most loyal listeners, a young man named Jason.
Jason is. I mean, this guy. I, I.
Jason, if you're. Well, of course you're listening, Jason, the videos you send, some of them are really good, some are really dumb. But I will tell you what, I never run out of stuff to look at at night if I'm bored. So, yeah, and lately it's like I can't even get to them all. I probably have 50 little videos from Jason in my messenger file that I just, I haven't had time to look at them. Things are hectic, really, lately. Anyway, Jason, this is for you. So here's something from October 3rd from the end time headlines. So, USPS, that's United States Postal Service, to put cameras in trucks that scan roads for community safety. So, Jason, are you aware of that the United States Postal Service is testing dashboard cameras in mail trucks that will continuously scan streets, signs, roadways and sidewalks in the name of. I live in Sun City. So if you're scanning the sidewalk, you might see a bunch of people driving up there in the name of community safety, turning a fleet that already reaches nearly every neighborhood into a rolling data collection network. So as much as I think this is funny, it also ties into flat cameras and AI and robotics and all that, because now a quasi government entity is going to be watching us even more closely, and they're pretty much in every neighborhood, near every business office.
Anything else here important? The pilot detailed in a letter from USPS Labor Relations to Brian Renfro, president of the national association of Letter Carriers and later Posted by the NALC Branch 238 pairs the agency with dash cam maker Next base. For now, the cameras are limited to Washington D.C. area and about 100 vehicles. The program was scheduled to begin Sept. 21 and expected to run for several months. The purpose of this pilot is to leverage Postal Service's unique ability to to collect valuable data due to the scale and frequency in which our fleet of postal vehicles travel the streets of every community across the country. Ba Ba ba says here. Next base. Cameras will scan and analyze roads, signage, maps, roadways. Okay, whatever. I'm worried about privacy again. I'm worried that everybody, everywhere you go, you and I know we don't have an expectation of privacy. I know that. Stay in your house if you don't want. Oh wait, do you have Alexa?
Do you have a ring doorbell? You're not safe anywhere from privacy.
Let's see here.
Yeah, okay, that's enough. Let me get to the next article I have on this. And Jason, I you know, you'll have some of your thoughts on all this. This is from MSN.com on June 24th US Postal Service tells Congress it needs help. They're running out of Cash.
This was June 24th. US Postmaster General David Steiner told Congress on Wednesday that the financially struggling agency has a broken business model and needs help from lawmakers to turn around its operations. The bottom line is that we are out of cash. We are borrowing from our employees. This part's not funny to me, Jason, because this affects you. We are borrowing from our employee retirement funds to continue operation.
Steiner's written testimony before US Senate committee said warning it could run out of operating funds in months if it stopped deferring obligations. The Postal Service has a broken business model and action is needed by Congress to fix it. Steiner wants Congress to compensate it for money losing operations and make other reforms. In March, Steiner said the Postal Service was hiring restructuring advisors to help address its financial trouble. You're out of money. You just said that, Steiny. You're out of money and yet you're hiring. Did you hear that word, hiring? Maybe if you get laid off from Microsoft or Barclays, you can go over and be an advisor for the Postal Service. You're hiring advisors. You're putting cameras in vehicles to scan roadways. What the hell's going on here? So you're either broker, you're not anyway.
And if you're. If you're Steiner or if you're from the postal service and you have any clout around there. Do you want me to fix your problem right now, Sam? Anthony. Do you want me to fix the post office problems right now? Stop the six day service. There's my number one recommendation. Have you ever heard of email? Have you ever heard of. Have you ever heard of messenger DMs? You know what DMs are? Stop this. Let's go down to two days a week. And I know, I know people are gonna say, but I get my prescription medicine through the mail. Then stock up. The government wants you to have three days worth. I want you to have three months worth. And then you can when you get. So
[00:50:56] Speaker C: for someone who doesn't trust the cloud or know how to work a computer, you don't want anybody to have physical mail anymore.
[00:51:03] Speaker D: That is correct. Because it's. That's the way we're all going. So I want to take one from the team.
I love Anthony. You spend all of your waking hours trying to argue with me with everything I say. It's usually valid. Get me wrong. You usually have very valid points.
No, I just. I mean, everything that I read. Four and a half years, and I'm so much further along in my travels thinking, this world is absolutely crazy. Sam, what was the movie you told me? Idiocracy. Was that a movie you told me about a few years back? And I mean, I watched it. It was funny, it was dumb. It was a mixture of things. But it's not far off anymore. I mean, the politics. Data centers are now political.
If you like data centers and you want them in your neighborhood, you're conservative. If you don't like data centers, you're liberal. How in the hell did that happen? How does the broke post office hire advisors and raid employee pensions and put cameras in cars? And they're testing it to be a nationwide rollout? What on earth is going on? It's all idiocracy. It's what's going on.
I'm sure I'm getting close, but I'll give you one more article. This is more for Anthony's neighbor, Alex.
This is from October 2nd. From the end Time headlines, your car and its companion app are likely sharing all kinds of data with tech firms.
Connected cars packed with WI fi and GPS are quietly vacuuming up vast amounts of information about the people who drive them. And that information is not staying with the automaker. According to a report from TechCrunch, a new northeastern University study shows just how widely that data is flowing to outside companies and how little drivers can do to stop it without giving up their vehicle or features such as remote start and unlock my remote start and unlock our wi Fi. That's it's amazing.
See here. Researchers working with consumer reports examined 21 late model vehicles from 17 manufacturers, including Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, Lucid, Rivian, Tesla and Toyota. Ba ba ba. Multiple data types often went to the same recipient, letting advertisers and brokers assemble detailed profiles that are then sold to insurers and banks that are extremely difficult to banks.
Pardon me, why would my information go to banks? You know, some of this we're doing to ourselves. I remember when years ago, I don't know if it was Geico or Progressive or you know, one of those with a fantastic commercials came out and said let's, let's put, let's put a little nanny in your car. Let's plug this in. It'll say if you're doing hard braking, jackrabbit starts, how's your acceleration? You remember that and you'll get a discount on your insurance if you're a safe driver. So we turned ourselves in. I never did that because I love to speed, I love to drive recklessly. So I never did it. I drive on the sidewalk in Sun City. I think I'm out of time. Anthony, today was fun. Thanks.
[00:54:03] Speaker C: Oh well, anyways, that's it for today's show. That went fast.
